New data provided by SurveyMonkey shows that UK millennials are more likely prefer influencers than celebrity endorsement. The data was announced at the Web Summit in Lisbon, polling 1,010 adults aged 18 and above. Likewise, the data aimed to map attitudes between select groups on brand trust and purchasing.
In-depth, the report shows that UK millennials are more likely to be swayed by influencers and Instagram. 25% of millennials have made a purchase based on an online influencer. Moreover, 21% have made a purchase based on Instagram.
This is compared to the 35+ demographic, polling at 8% on purchasing based on influencer, with 4% making a purchase based on Instagram advertising.
Influencers Versus Traditional Purchasing Decisions
Out with the old and in with the new. The right influencer is great to represent your brand, especially when comparing them to traditional advertising methods.
Across all age groups, a third of influencer purchasing decisions came in under at £100. Almost half of consumers paid between £100-500. However, the best of all, one in ten consumers spent £1,000 or more on an item that an influencer advertised.
At the moment, traditional advertising still leads the way in purchasing decisions. Across all age groups, 41% of people found that TV ads are the most influential.
